It has been a long time it seems since I got my BMW 530d but I am still very impressed with the BMW parking sensors commonly called ther PDC (Parking Distance Control) when you enter the reverse gear this actives the PDC display on the i-Drive......
On a side note if you have a BMW 5-Series Pre-2006 then you might want to pop in to your local BMW dealership to get the ECM's updated throughout your BMW as when I had the update applied that cost me £133.16 with a car wash I got the new gear ratios which inproved my MPG from 36.6MPG to 42.1MPG.
